I understand medical terminology and language.
I completed a Health Information Management (HIM) Diploma in 2005, and a key component was extensive training in medical terminology. HIM professionals need to be able to thoroughly understand a health record, from surgical reports to nursing notes.
This also means I can effectively speak to most other health professionals and understand their particular job role, challenges, and needs.
I know the healthcare industry.
After I graduated, I worked for a health region in Alberta. Later, I moved to British Columbia to work with a non-profit organization that operated assisted living and long-term care facilities for 10+ years.
My background allows me to write more focused and effective copy because I’m familiar with how hospitals and extended care facilities operate, as well as what the staff deal with on a day-to-day basis.
I’m professionally trained in copywriting.
Since 2014, I’ve taken a variety of training through American Writers and Artists, Inc., including programs on direct response copywriting, web writing, and business-to-business writing.
I’m also a member of the Professional Writers Alliance and I continue to keep up-to-date with trends in SEO and online writing.
